WINDOWS™ VISTA USERS !!!!! Please be sure to install this in the C:\ drive and NOT C:\Program Files Be sure to read this document thouroughly for any undocumented features. Be sure to check the Feature list and the Known Issues list below for information that may not be found in the manuals at this time. ************************************************ Changes to 3D version 3.0 Jul/20/2007 13:54 Official Release Many new features added to this version -- many listed in previous beta versions. There is a new manual available on-line describing all of these new features. It can be found at http://www.computrainer.com/html/user_manuals.htm Here's a list of new features, but be sure to read through the beta lists below for other smaller changes: Added DragFactor™ to allow you to synchronize your outdoor Speed/Heart Rate to CompuTrainer Speed/Heart Rate. Added User Reports at the end of a ride. This is an HTML file stored in the Reports Folder and is a brief synopsis of the ride. Headers and footers can be edited to match a bike shop or coaching studio logo or phrase in 3 places. Added First Person riding to allow you to remove your rider from the screen. The view will be just of the road and your opponent. Kind of like real life. Added the ability to save any opponent and added the "type of rider" to the performance file name. Added 3 key components common to the Cycling Peaks training software; Training Stress Score/Intensity Factor/Normalized Power (TSS/IF/NP). You can learn more about this in the manual or at www.cyclingpeaks.com At the request of our South African distributor, we've added a user "skin color" option. Improved the AutoDetect routine to detect a CompuTrainer if it is turned on and connected. Changed the intro buttons to "Setup Options" and "Load Last Course" to help customers know what these buttons actually do. ************************************************ Changes to 3D version 3.0 Feb/20/2007 15:33 BETA Further fixes in the Save Routines. Fixed a Time-Delay pacer issue having to do with the delay time being off. Fixed Watts Pacer wattage increase/decrease using Handlebar Controller keys. Fixed a pause bug that kept resetting the time after a pause occurred. Fixed a problem playing back performance files and seeing their average data after a false start/Reset/Restart. Fixed the ability to use the Handlebar Controller keys to access the Save Dialogs. Changed the core function of the application to run at very low CPU usage. This may allow for use of other applications simultaneously with our software running (like maybe iTunes or something). Though it will not be our official stand that this should be allowed, it may now be possible. KNOWN ISSUES STILL PENDING We are still working on the HTML Report. That should not be reported as a bug at the moment. We know it's still broken. There is still a PAUSE bug where if you pause, and then choose CANCEL to abort the RESET, the timer was still running behind the scenes. Still some wacky behavior with the entire load/save/replay/reset/update of a performance ride. This is very complex, so it is needing a lot of work. ************************************************ Changes to 3D version 3.0 Jan/03/2007 06:10 BETA Further fixes in the Save Routines. We will now allow you to save any Pacer performance from the Handlebar Controller at the end of the race. Modified the Start From feature to allow it to be sticky. Added some further changes to allow you to edit skin colors. In computrainer.ini are standard RGB color pallet settings and intensity settings as well. This feature was added due to a request from our South African representative. Feel free to play with these settings, but you should have some knowledge of RGB colors before editing them too much. We've done more work on the report, but have concluded we need to down-size it a bit since there doesn't see to me much consensus on what it should have or shouldn't have. Various other small fixes done as well. ************************************************ Changes to 3D version 3.0 Dec/21/2006 08:19 BETA Fixed some file save routines Continuing work on the Performance Report. Added a Reports sub menu and also the ability to open reports by going to the Load botton and browsing the reports. Multiple changes to the Options Screen Fixed some Rider Performance file (Race Against) problems Added Skin Color adjustments to the Rider Setup screens (by request) Increased the file viewing area of the Course Load and Performance Load screens. Fixed some race finish issues (not saving, etc.) Fixed some of the Save Pacer Performance issues to allow saving smart pacers again. Will prompt to save Rider One and Rider Two even if with a Pacer. Added TSS/IF/NP to the Data bar for those who use it. Known issues: 1) We're partly there on the save dialogs. If you actually finish a race everything works fine, but if the race is reset before the finish line, then we only save Rider One. we need to save rider two as well. 1a) If you pause, then Reset, not only do you not get Rider Two performance saved, but you don't prompt for the report either. 2) I show TSS/IF/NP info under the pacer. These numbers should be the same color as present in the data bar for the riders row of data, which would also be true for the Drag Factor numbers left and right. 3) The rider flesh colors are not quite 100% true to life. We'll continue to tweak them. 4) I built a course, but didn't save it and used it to test a couple things, then I edited it to make it a bit shorter, but every time I clicked "Race Now" to load my newer shorter course, it loads the course I was using before -- like it's stuck into memory or something. ************************************************ Changes to 3D version 3.0 Oct/26/2006 12:07 BETA Fixed the bug causing the crash related to the AutoDetection routine. Fixed the bug causing the crash when using Let's Ride. Disabled the Hide Timer feature using the +/- keys on the Handlebar Controller. You can still use the "H" key to hide the running timer. There were too many people hiding the timer on accident and not reading this file to find out why. Added the Autodetect option to the Options Screen to allow this feature to be disabled - specifically for multi-CompuTrainer users. The Autodetection routine will select the first CompuTrainer it finds and will set it to Rider One and the second it finds as Rider Two. You may not want this arrangement, so you can disable autodetetction and set the ports manually as before. Fixed the time-delay pacer so it acts as it was first designed to. Widened the Load Course/Performance dialog window to account for the length of auto-save file names. Added the software half of a new feature (available soon as an upgrade) to allow you to adjust your drag factor. Drag factor adjusts the wind-load curve RacerMate currently uses for CompuTrainer and Velotron (100% drag factor being an exact tracing of our master wind-load curve). The effect could be seen as a higher speed for a given wattage (drag factor settings below 100%). This is the same effect you get when you change from riding in the drops to a full-aero position on the bike while riding on the road. The result of using the Drag Factor feature will be a closer match on your CompuTrainer compared to what your speed/watt relationship is on the road. This feature requires an updated Handlebar Controller program chip, which will be available around the 1st of November, 2006. Improved camera movement on the road. Current default settings for the cameras in bac.ini are: camx=0.0 camy=20.0 camz=0.0 look at y=20.0 Added the begginings of a report function that will generate an HTML report at the end of the race. Originally created for Toyota, this report can be edited to include bike shop, clinic, or personal logos if needed. Because this is a HTML file, these logos need to be sized according to the examples you'll now find in the CompuTrainer 3D V3 folder. These examples currently display RacerMate logos. There are still a few missing pieces of information we are waiting for; i.e., from TrainingPeaks Group for instance. As soon as we have it all, we will update the software to include this. The setup of this feature is as follows and these changes are made to the file BAC.ini: script title=Challenge Yourself ;(this is for the title in the right top corner of the screen) print report dialog=true ;(this can be set to false to disable the generation of the report) show rider info=true ;(for Toyota, they were going to use the same weight and name, and wanted to hide this information from the report) report logos=true ;(if you have logos to display on your report, set this to true, if not, false. If true you must have image files to use that match the names you put into BAC.ini. These files shown below are included with the software update and can be used as templates to create your own files) lower left logo=aboutyou.jpg lower right logo=URLlogosmall.jpg upper left logo=tourlogosmall.jpg ************************************************ Changes to 3D version 3.0 Oct/04/2006 11:13 Test Version Only. Not for resale. ************************************************ Changes to 3D version 3.0 Mar/14/2006 08:32 Fixed an error causing a 1 in 1000 courses loaded to fail. (i.e., small_loop.3dc) ************************************************ Changes to 3.0 Feb/24/2006 10:08 (Final Release) Final synchonization with MultiRider 3 and Coaching Software libraries. ************************************************ Changes to 3.0 Feb/15/2006 15:23 (Final pre-release) Changed the performance file format on this version to Version 2 performance files. This was done to help aid in how the Coaching Software reads and exports performance data and to help deal with displaying multiple loop courses. ************************************************ Changes to 3.0 Jan/13/2006 11:40 (Release Candidate) Software will remember whether drafting was last set to ON or OFF on next run. You can change the PROFILE colors using RGB settings. These numbers can be set in the computrainer.ini file. There are two colors -- one upper and one lower. We'll gradient between the choices you make. To help solve any jerkiness of riders, there are 3 filter settings available in bac.ini. Pay close attention to the "direction" the riders are jerking and adjust these values as needed to smooth the camera. There are no real maximum values, but you don't want to set them too high if it does not change anything as it may effect other movements. Defaults are shown: camx=7.0 (left/right) camy=20.0 (up/down) camz=20.0 (forth/back) We've interlocked the Opponents to lock out the ability of selecting Another CompuTrainer and Previous Performance (when available). These two function are not compatible with the other and if selected, Previous Performance will disable Another CompuTrainer and enable Pacer Time Delay. We've fixed the performance file errors. These should play back correctly now. ************************************************ Changes to 3.0 Dec/14/2005 13:36 (4th beta release) Fixed all reported bugs with the exception of the average/peak fields update ending prematurely. Need more information on cause to fix this. ************************************************ Changes to 3.0 Dec/08/2005 14:14 (3rd beta release) Fixed the save dialog popping up early when pacer crossed the finish first. Fixed a bug that caused the program to crash if there wasn't a serial port correctly set. ************************************************ Changes to 3.0 Dec/02/2005 17:07 (2nd beta release) Various and sundry initial beta bugs fixed (too many to list). Modified the full-screen/windowed screen start-up to remember what you last ran in. It will run in that mode until you change it. So, if you use F12 key to change from Windowed (now the default) to Full-Screen, and then close the program, it'll remember you were in Full-Screen next time. Many noted the Racelog.csv was not being updated with the first beta. What happened is the Racelog.csv file got duplicated in the root "Program Files" folder by accident. If you search for racelog.csv you'll find this file. If you want to merge the two again, be sure to do it using notepad and not Excel. There have been complaints about jerking riders. This may vary from computer to computer and various video cards and drivers. We've added some filtering to solve this globally, but if you see riders jerking about, let us know. If your system crashes immediately upon the launch of this software, let us know. ************************************************ Changes to 3.0 Oct/26/2005 12:37 Changed the initial start-up routine that automatically detects the CompuTrainer. Some computers didn't like this routine. This version may fail on first attempt as it tries to autodetect the CompuTrainer. If it does, relaunch the software and it will bypass this routine. You can still use the Test Com Ports routine in the Options Screen to locate the CompuTrainer and set the com port. *********************************************** Features added: Automatic detection and setup of CompuTrainer during software launch. Reset/Save and ESC/Save and Race End/Save dialogs. If you choose yes to save, the performance file will be saved with a generic file name (name/date/time.3dp). Unencrypted performance files (still binary, though) Removed the scenery pack encryption for new scenery pack capabilities. New Scenery Packs are on the way. Look for them soon! You can hide the timer (customer requested) by hitting the "H" key on the keyboard or +/- key while racing. You can calibrate your CompuTrainer in the middle of a ride. To do so (while the timer is running), press F1 to pause the race, then press F3 to enter the calibration program (the routine is now as described in the Basic Manual on Rolling Resistance Calibration). When calibrated, press F3 to save and return to the Race Screen. F1 now resumes the race. *********************************************** Known issues: Some computers do not behave correctly when we automatically try and detect the presence of a CompuTrainer on the serial Port. If you software crashed when you first launch it, click on the shortcut in the CompuTrainer 3D program group to Turn off Auto-Detect and change the line: skip autotest=false to skip autotest=true and save the changes. Try the software again. Requires minimum 16-bit color depth (Display Properties setting). Some video cards, if set for 32-color, can't run the Build or Load Course Screen. In these cases, set the color depth to 16-bit color. This software requires the most current video drivers from most, if not all, video card manufactueres. Before calling technical support, make sure you have done this. On some Windows 2000 PC's the Intro.AVI runs very slow. You can use the "spacebar" on your PC to bypass this introduction video. On Windows 2000 PC's that exhibit this problem, you may want to rename C:\CompuTrainer 3D V3\Data\Intro.avi as Intro.old so it is permanently disabled until we can repair this problem.
