PLEASE NOTE: These
instructions are also included as part of the following CompuTrainer 3D
Update, so you can refer to these notes after installing the patch by
going to:
Windows™ Start menu / Programs / CompuTrainer 3d V3 / AutoDetect Instructions
If this version of 3D crashes as soon as it is launched, please take the
following steps to eliminate the problem:
FIRST, Generate a DirectX Diagnostic Report. Go to the Windows™
Start menu, click on Run and type: DXDIAG and click OK. After the
program has finished loading, run all the tests shown on the -Display-
tab. When all tests are complete, click on the "Save all information"
button found at the bottom of the page to save a copy of this test’s
information onto you computer.
SECOND, using My Computer, browse to the C: Drive, then to
Program Files (click "OK to view these files" if prompted) locate the
folder CompuTrainer 3D V3 and locate the files: _bike.log, ba.log and
fatal.log, if found, and attach these files, along with a DirectX Diagnostic
Report, in an e-mail to
roger@computrainer.com.
With this information we can try and
determine why this aspect of the 3D software will not function on your
computer
THIRD, go to the Windows™ Start Menu and then Programs and then
to the CompuTrainer 3D V3 Program Group. Click on the menu item called
Turn OFF Auto Detect and edit the line that says:
skip autotest=false
to:
skip autotest=true
Now close this file and save changes when prompted to do so.
What you have disabled is an auto communications test. You can now retry
the 3D software and assuming this solved your problem, you'll now need
to run your own communication port check by running Check Comm Ports in
the 3D Software Options Screen. We will use the information you send to try and
solve this in future builds. This will be a permanent work-around
until further research can be done.
