Downloading the Latest 3D v3.0 Update Patch - Release
Version
Note: This patch updates
existing CompuTrainer 3D v3.0 software ONLY!
It does NOT upgrade CompuTrainer 3DDX build 116 or earlier
(i.e. v2.0 or
v1.0), to
version 3.0!

here to download the latest 3D v3.0 Update patch
Build: 3.0 Jul/20/2007 13:54 (released
July 20, 2007)
See information on this build below. |
Please Note: This patch fixes
several things (see
the "readme" file). This version creates a new style saved performance file.
If you own Coaching Software, only the new Coaching Software
v1.5 can read
these files.
to update your Coaching Software.
For this patch to
function properly, it must be installed into the same same folder that a
previous version of CompuTrainer 3D v3.0 resides in.
By default, the factory installation path is: C:\Program Files\CompuTrainer 3D V3.
This version includes an "AutoDetect"
feature that has been known to fail on a very small handful of
computers. Be sure to read and understand this feature here before
continuing with your download.

What's New with 3.0 Jul/20/2007 13:54:
- Added a new Drag Factor routine to allow
you to adjust for the speed/watts relationship seen when riding in an more
aero position. Though optional, Drag Factor requires a new Handlebar
Controller program (version 45.43 or higher) and this can be purchased
here. Again, this is an
optional upgrade.
- Added a post-race
performance report. At the end of the race, a "save report" request
will appear and a HTML report with the same name save structure as
performance files will be saved in the CompuTrainer 3D V3 folder.
- An improved Autodetection. If you had troubles with this, this version should
fix it.
- Replaced the Build A Course and Let's Ride
buttons.
- Fixed the Time-Delay Pacer to operate the
way it's supposed to.
- Added First Person rider view.
What's New with 3.0 Feb/24/2006 10:08:
- Changed the performance file format to
accommodate multiple laps and how they are read and exported in Coaching
Software.
- Program will remember whether Drafting was
last selected and keep that setting until you change it.
- You can alter the color of your profile on
the race screen using RGB color settings for those of you who know what that
is. See the readme file for further details.
- Program will now remember whether you run
Full Screen or Windowed mode. Switch between these modes using F12.
Whatever you close the program set to will be how it opens again.
- Automatic detection and setup of
CompuTrainer during software launch. Check
here for more details.
- Reset/Save and ESC/Save and Race
End/Save dialogs. If you choose yes to save, the performance file will be
saved with a generic file name (name/date/time.3dp).
- Unencrypted performance files (still
binary, though)
- Removed the scenery pack encryption
for new scenery pack capabilities. New Scenery is due out soon!
It is NOT included with this update.
- You can hide the timer (customer
recent request on the forum) by hitting the "H" key on the keyboard or +/-
key while racing.
- There's been some slight changes to the
camera trailing the riders, but typically only seen when you first launch
the program.
- Program now runs by default in a Window to
better utilize the computers screen resolution.
What's New with 3.0 Aug/13/2004 12:38:
- Changed Version number scheme.
- Added Test Comm Port and comm port setting
automation. Run Test Comm Ports from the Options screen and if a
CompuTrainer is found, it will set the correct port. If two are found,
the fist found will be for Rider One and the second will be for Rider
Two.
- Added a new course zoom utility to allow a better
look at the shape of a course. Press F7 to open a new window AFTER a
course has been loaded to the grid. Then using the left and right mouse
keys and mouse movement (or also while using the ALT key), you can
rotate the course around and view it from any angle.
- Added the "Pause, press F3" Rolling Calibration
routine. To check rolling calibration during a ride, pause the race
first using the F1 key, then press F3 to enter the Rolling Calibration
routine. Runn the calibration by spinning up to 25 MPH and stopping.
When calibration number displays, save new value using F3 and this will
also return you to the 3D software, where F1 will resume the race. For
more information on Rolling Calibration, see the Pro Basic manual.
- Added a frame rate check. Press the "Z" key to
display frame rates in top left corner. May help in determining odd
disconnect problems.
What's New with NC29.3.0.222:
- Added a registration function to the About box to allow similar registration
function as the CompuTrainer Coaching Software. In fact, Coaching Software
customers can use the same registration code to enable this feature. When registered, 3D will save out unencrypted performance files. Customers can also register the 3D software for the same cost of registering Coaching Software if this file format is required for 3rd party programs.
- Revised version numbering sequence.
What's New with NC23.1.0.2411:
- PLEASE NOTE: Version number on this build is out of
sync. We will be back in sync by the next build.
- Encrypted performance files to meet Electronic Bike
Racing Association mandate.
- Fixed the course problem that occurred when loading
Topo USA Courses.
- Fixed the performance file issue -- not loading
performance files.
- Fixed a com port issue while using USB to Serial adapter,
where the program kept forcing the com port to com 2 for the second
rider.
What's New with N916.3.0.82:
- Improved the road line display on Windows XP PC's.
(Saw
very little improvement to Windows 9x/ME PC's).
- Revised the course and performance path menus for
browsing to folders outside the default installation folders.
What's New as of build N523.3.0.54:
- Improved the close loop. If you are straight on or somewhat straight on or in the general area you should be able to close the loop.
- Added a browse button to save and load course files from other directories. This feature does not eliminate the need of the original Courses sub folder (this is still the folder that shows up courses in the Load dialog). But, if you create folders elsewhere, you can now browse to, or save to, these new locations. Just be aware that if you remove all the courses in the original Courses sub folder, there will be no courses displayed in the Load dialog.
- 1,2,3 go in front of the "Start" banner now.
- Racelog times missing hour. Actually, the information is there but
Excel's CSV importer does not import the data correctly. Excel imports the data and does not display the hours. You can fix this by clicking on the "time" column header and change the format to custom and select [h]:mm:ss.0 Then in that column you will see the hours. If we hack off the tenths of a second from the data, the excel importer will load the files properly, as in, change it from 1:05:30.3 to 1:05:30. Then when you import the
CSV it will show the number as 1:05:30. But we'd prefer not to do this.
- Finally, we put a frame rate limiter. It defaults to 60fps. This should help to stabilize the faster PC's which appear to be running so fast they are missing packets of data. In the prefs.INI file you will see LimitFrames=60 and you can change this to any number. Lower numbers will produce lower frame rates. 0 will be unlimited.
What's New as of build N324.3.0.10:
- Fixed the drafting bug on faster processors.
- Added Racelog shortcut as a Program Group menu item.

Known issues:
- Requires minimum 16-bit color depth (Display Properties setting)
Some video cards, if set for 24 or 32-bit (True Color), crash when trying to run the Build or Load Course Screen. In these cases, set the color depth to 16-bit
(High Color).
- 3Dv3.0 software requires current video drivers from most, if not all, video card
manufactures. Most video card manufacturers will list their latest drivers
for free download on their web sites. If you are experiencing
problems, make sure you have
updated to newest available driver before contacting technical support.
- Some Windows 2000 PC's may experience a slow Intro.AVI
when launching the 3D software. You can use the "spacebar" on your PC to bypass this introduction
video clip, or you can rename the file:
C:\CompuTrainer 3D V3\Data\Intro.avi -to-
C:\CompuTrainer 3D V3\Data\Intro.old so it is permanently disabled.
- There may be a new version of
Coaching Software that reads
this new version 3D performance file. If so, follow the link above
to check for a new version.
- A few of the PC1 courses imported in to 3D v.30 may come out
to the wrong length. Open the broken PC1 course in Windows Notepad, and
make sure the second line reads "Units =" and not "Unit
=" Make the necessary modification and this should fix the
problem.
- 3D version 3.0 experienced problems with the Intel 82845G video
chipset in the past. RacerMate worked with Intel to correct these
issues and graphics drivers released after 5/1/2003 seem to fix most of the display issues.
The latest Intel video drivers are available at:
