"A dozen members of our 400 member club have acquired CompuTrainers during the past few years.  Since then, the average speed in the pack on our 24 mile Saturday ride has increased over 4 mph from 21 to 25+. These guys all know it's their CompuTrainers that have put them in the final break."

Support - SOFTWARE System requirements

CompuTrainer 3D
Coaching Software
Real Course Video

Minimum System Requirements:

  • Intel Pentium IV or AMD equivalent

  • System RAM: minimum as required by the operating system used.

  • Windows™ 2000/XP/Vista/Win7 (Vista/Win7 users, read this)

  • One Serial Port or USB Port per CompuTrainer.
    (Note:
    Computrainer includes one USB adapter)

  • Video Card with 32MB Video RAM (128MB RAM for Interactive Real Course Video)

  • CD-ROM drive (needed for application software installation purposes only)

  • DVD-ROM drive (needed for Interactive Real Course Video installation)

Not sure whether your computer meets or exceeds system requirements?
Use the DirectX Diagnostics tool to tell you everything you need to know.  Click here to learn how.

Optional things to consider:

  • If you have been using a CompuTrainer for a while and are now considering the purchase of a new computer (Vista or Windows7), be aware that the USB-to-Serial adapter you were using before may not work well on this new computer.  On Vista and Windows 7 we highly recommend the new FTDI-based USB adapter as found here or any other FTDI-based USB-to-Serial adapter.

  • Many users are switching to Intel-based Mac computers.  Be aware that the general consensus among those who do this is that nothing works well except Bootcamp and Windows.  Parallels and Fusion, though they are getting better, have not reached the status of emulating all the hardware required to run our software.  RacerMate has no plans at the moment to develop software for the Mac, so users who choose to go this route do so knowing we can't support them if something doesn't work.  These users can post threads on our forum and hopefully find support among others who have succeeded.

  • Connection to a big-screen TV is a function of the video card.  If this is your plan, get a video card that has an s-video output or a TV that has a VGA-input.

  • Internet Connection, though not required to run the applications listed above, comes in handy for downloading software updates, more courses, ranking etc.  Interactive Real Course Videos require an Internet connection to register, but this can be done on a computer not running the video as noted in the Interactive Real Course Video instruction manual.
