DION HARRISON

In Nov. 2007 Dion placed 3rd in the 25-29 AG at the 70.3 world championships in Clearwater, Florida.

Since then he's been using his CompuTrainer at least twice per week.

Below is a table showing his improvements since Jan '08.

Looking at it, average watts have increased by 11%, which translates to 1.2kph increase.  Peak watts is a lot more under control, cadence has increased whilst HR has fallen slightly.

Since then in the 25-29AG Dion has finished 2nd at St Croix 70.3 (qualifying for Hawaii in the process), 6th Antwerp 70.3.
A week later he won the age group race at London Triathlon and on Aug 31 he won the 25-29 AG at the ITU Long Distance World Champion in Almere, Holland.

Dion said about his CompuTrainer…

"Cycling has always been my weakest discipline but since using the CompuTrainer through the off season last year I’ve been able to come off the bike in the top 2 in my AG at all this years races.

The CompuTrainer & SpinScan has helped me develop a more constant and balanced power output and I’m hoping I can use this knowledge to curb my ‘enthusiasm’ during the early stages of the Kona bike course!

During the winter my tempo & interval session each week were really motivational and enabled me to continually monitor progress and clearly see improvements. Week on week I could feel myself getting stronger and more efficient on the bike.   Also, in bad weather, I would happily jump on the CompuTrainer and ride an Ironman 70.3 course and these sessions, riding at set watts, are a fantastic gauge of where I’m at with my training and can be benchmarked against actual 70.3 races I’ve done.

The combination of Watts, Cadence, HR and the computer pacer are all great tools and really helped me stay motivated and hit my targets in the hardest sessions.  My one regret is that I’ve only used it once a week though the summer.  I won’t make that mistake next year! I can’t wait to improve my cycling again this winter!"
