Me & my CompuTrainer
Anyone who lives where the weather is often inclement and cold will
know how hard it can be to build, or maintain a certain level of
bike fitness. With the short days and long nights during the winter
months this is especially so. Many cyclists and triathletes use
indoor turbo trainers during these winter months, but often struggle
to get the work they need to done.
For the past 5 years now I have been fortunate enough to have access
to a Computrainer. I have used it religiously during those winter
months, and this year I was so convinced by its benefits that I have
continued to use it throughout the year. Combining regular
Computrainer sessions, alongside my outdoor sessions has really
pushed my cycling on to another level.....

"Hi Chuck:
Thanks so much for your time on the phone. And of course many
thanks for your CompuTrainer.....it is the single biggest reason why
my cycling has gone from my relative weakness to my relative
strength in the past 12 years.
Simply put, I am a happy 'slave' to that wattage display. Every
single bike workout I do is built around target wattages. And every
year, I work extremely hard to nudge those wattage numbers upward.
When John Howard introduced me to a CompuTrainer in April of 1996, I
could only do long rides at a wattage of 200, tempo rides at a
wattage of 280, and a set of 3 minute long intervals at a wattage of
330. But I was (and am) so motivated to 'grow' those numbers, that
I trained more and more intensely as the months and years went by.
And I think as my body adapted to the increased intensity, that this
then allowed me to be able to train a little bit harder and more
intensely still in the years that would follow."

"I don’t have many regrets in
life, but if I had to pick one, it would be that I didn’t discover
the sport of triathlon until pretty late in life! I have been a
life-long swimmer and when I retired from elite level swimming, took
to running as a means to support my eating habits!! In 1997,
following graduate school, I had 3 months off before starting work.
I had no money, no desire to travel and figured I’d pass the time by
trying an Ironman. I raced the Vineman in 1997 and loved it, but a
demanding Wall Street job ended my triathlon career before it really
began.
Fast forward to 2002,

2004 US Olympic Team, Triathlon
"My
triathlon career began in the summer of 2002. After only 18 months
in the sport, I had earned my way on to the US Olympic Team. My
background in swimming had provided me with the aerobic engine I
needed to compete on a world class level in my new sport. The
physiological demands of cycling and running posed a new challenge
to me that I was eager to conquer. My learning curve on the bicycle
has been the steepest as well as the most rewarding.

"Who doesn't have limited training time? As a
busy Mom, multi-sport coach, professional triathlete and physical
therapist - I'm lucky when I bring the right bag with me each time I
leave the house. My training has to be specific, focused and
efficient. CompuTrainer allows me to capitalize on every second of
my training.

Extreme CompuTrainer User
Former Pro Bike Racer
"My name is Steve DeGarmo and I am
writing to tell a short tale about what I believe to be the best
piece of training equipment ever, the CompuTrainer! I started
cycling in 1997 and after a few months I decided to give racing a
try. I was 29 years old at the time and felt I did not have a whole
lot of time to bring my level of fitness up to where I wanted it to
be. That year I started as a Cat 5 and won only 3 races and moved
to a Cat 4.
