I am more than happy to advocate the advantages of CompuTrainer having used the
trainer in a number of races and as a major tool in 2003 during my build up to
Kona. What amazed me was the resemblance of my training prep to my race split
being within a minute of the CompuTrainer time in Kona and again in Ironman OZ
2004 During my prep for Ironman Australia in 2005 , my last race before our
twin children were born, I again used the CompuTrainer in my preparation and
once again I was surprised by the accuracy of the simulated training (i.e.
in training I rode 5:01 on the compy and on race day I rode 4:59 very
comfortably.)
I returned to racing in March of this year with a fairly ambitious plan of 12
week prep into Ironman NZ to qualify for Kona with limited time available due to
family life. Mission accomplished! Kona 2010 now gives me the opportunity to
test myself at against the best athletes in the world!
I am ready for the next 18 weeks of training and feel confident that I have the
right training tool in CompuTrainer to produce a PB on the Big Island. I have no
hesitation in recommending CompuTrainer to athletes who want the best return for
their time invested in training. Our children are now four and maximising my
time is of key importance to ensure the balance of family, work and social
commitments. As a family, we are looking forward to the race and the nice break
holidaying in Hawaii and the States after the race.
For some context around why I rate CompuTrainer see the short list below of the
results achieved while using CompuTrainer. State Age Group Duathlon Champion
and a number of 2nd place finishes in age group at the Busselton Half Ironman.
Additionally I was fortunate enough to win a WA Classic Cycling race being the
Collie To Donnybrook during my Ironman Prep, I also represented Perth Western
Australia in the Tour Of South China.
